AMAVA THORNCLIFFE

Scope of Works:

 

This 120tph chrome tails retreatment plant was designed to recover tails from three of the local Glencore chrome mines in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The plant produces concentrate with Cr2O3 of +45% and Si < 2.5%.

GAKARA

Scope of Works:

 

Obsideo was contracted by Rainbow Rare Earths in 2016 to do a technical and costing study for the implementation of the Gakara Rare Earth project in Burundi, East Africa.
The study was conducted in cooperation with Metanza who was responsible for the laboratory test work. The test work results from Metanza showed that a combination of crushing, jigging and shaking tables could be used to upgrade the Gakara ore to consistently achieve a concentrate grade of at least 55 % TREO at recoveries of 85 %.
Obsideo was contracted in March 2017 for the implementation of the project. The process plant, which was designed to treat 10 000 t/a of ROM at an average head grade of 30 % TREO producing 5 000 t/a of TREO concentrate with a grade of at least 55 % TREO, was commissioned in December 2017.

The Garnet Stripping Plant Project consisted of several spiral stages and an additional whet high intensity magnetic circuit with the focus on removing the high concentrate of garnet from the heavy mineral concentrate prior to the secondary concentrating plant magnetic circuit.

Obsideo was contracted for the detail design and construction of a new 18m diameter thickener at the Lanxess chrome plant in the North West province of South Africa. The scope included earthworks, concrete works, the thickener erection, as well as the electric and instrumentation integration into the existing plant infrastructure.

KHANYE 400TPH COAL PLANT

Scope of Works:

 

This 400tph Coal Washing Plant was designed to wash 1-100mm particles through a single LARCODEMS vessel with the minus 1mm particles being upgraded in a fines plant consisting of an elutriator and spirals. Construction of this greenfields project commenced in February 2018 and hot commissioning in December of the same year. Nameplate capacity was achieved within three months of commissioning.

Scope of Works

 

This brownfields project consisted of the installation of a jig plant and the integration thereof into an existing minus 3mm ferrochrome circuit at the Glencore Rustenburg Smelter in order to recover additional metal.
